Protecting Against Threats: Most computers I see infected with the worst viruses and malware I find something like Lime Wire or Frost Wire installed on them. The bottom line is if you use any programs or sites to get free or almost no cost music, games or software you are most likely breaking the law. Also programs like Lime Wire and Frost Wire are per to per file sharing programs that if not set up right may give malicious people access to your computer. Have you ever heard of someone getting in trouble for having child porn on there computer that they knew nothing about? I have seen this on TV news a number of times. It always seems to be a teenager’s computer. People will search the internet for other people’s computers to store there files in order to hide them. This might be able to be done if you run per to per file sharing programs like Lime Wire with out proper settings. You also open yourself up for some of the worst viruses and malware on the internet. Also if you are into porn sites you may get more then you bargained for looking at that kind of trash. Also be very careful on social networking sites like Facebook. I use Facebook a lot and it is a great site. The site itself is not the problem. The problem is stuff people post and link to. Most of the content is safe but just keep in mind files linked to or down loaded could be infected. Most Anti virus programs will protect against this if they are up to date. Also watch out for post that says some certain file on your computer is a virus. Most of the time this kind of post was started by a malicious person. The idea is you delete the file just to find out you computer or some program needed the file to work. Already infected:
Viruses, Spyware and Malware are all thorns in our side when it comes to computers.
In the following you find important information, tips and tricks to protect against all malicious
programs.
I have found the two best programs to use to protect against all viruses, spyware and malware
are AVG Anti Virus and Malwarebytes Anti Malware.
AVG works well against viruses and Spyware and more.
AVG has led the world in anti-virus protection for years. 80 million people around the globe rely on AVG to protect them while they’re online or offline. Threats today go way beyond viruses and only AVG adds the extra layers of protection against today’s biggest online threats.
Malwarebyites works well against malware and spyware.
Malwarebytes has developed a variety of tools that can identify and remove malicious software from your computer. When your computer becomes infected, Malwarebytes can provide the needed assistance to remove the infection and restore the machine back to optimum performance.
Tips and Tricks:
Anti Threat programs are great but most people do not set them up right. It is all well and good that you have Anti Virus and Anti Malware programs on your computer but if they never scan the compute you may have problems you do not know about. You need to set up your programs to scan you whole computer at a pre set time. Now this depends on how much you use your computer and if you leave it on at night. If you only use your computer now and then and turn it off most of the time then you may want to start the scans manually. If you use you computer a lot you may want to set it up to scan once a week with each program over night. I suggest heavy computer users leave there computer on so updates and scans can run at night. I use AVG and Malwarebyites so I set AVG to run one night and Malwarebyites to run the next night and Windows update on the third night. The rest of the nights I turn it off to save power.
The following can be effective with many types of infections:
One big problem is the good old pop up that looks like an Anti Virus program. It will not let you install and run any anti virus or malware programs. One thing you can try is to use System Restore. Go to Start > Help and Support > Undo changes to your computer with System Restore. Select Restore my computer to an earlier time. Set it to a date before you started having problems. Now you most likely will have to reboot. After you reboot Try to install Malwarebytes and AVG. Scan you computer with both of them. Another thing you may need to do is run the scan in safe mode. To enter safe mode reboot your computer and as it starts keep tapping the F8 key till you get a menu that lets you boot in safe mode. Once up in safe mode scan you computer again. A lot of the time the scanners will find and remove threats not found in normal mode. Now one big down side to removing a virus is most of the time a virus is a program that attaches it self to a file on you computer. A lot of the time the anti virus, anti malware and anti spyware programs can clean the file but sometimes the file has to be deleted. The big problem comes when the file is one you computer or some program on your computer needs to work right. If this happens your only choice is to get an unaffected copy of the file and replace it. The problem with that is you may not know what the file was so all you can do is reload the programs that do not work right. If Windows itself is not working then you may have to reload Windows.
